MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Monday, June 27 (2022)

Jun 27, 2022 - 1:25 PM

Monday starts a new set of series in baseball as we approach the final days of June. We have to feature the first game of one of the more important divisional series where a couple of games only separate these teams.

Some good pitchers are on the bump today, with a few that have sub-3.00 ERAs and one below 2.00. We certainly have a couple of games to pay attention to.

Oakland Athletics vs. New York Yankees

  • Leg 1: Under 8.5 (-106)
  • Leg 2: Yankees -1.5 (-152)
  • Leg 3: Jordan Montgomery under 5.5 strikeouts (-148)
  • Leg 4: Giancarlo Stanton to record a hit (-185)

After getting no-hit on Saturday, the Yankees ended the weekend positively with Aaron Judge’s second walk-off of the series and managed a split with the Astros. They go from facing the best team in the AL West to the worse they host the Oakland Athletics for three.

Jordan Montgomery is on the mound, and although it’s a small sample size, the A’s are collectively batting just .167 against Monty in 23 at-bats, and they’ve struggled against left-handed pitching this season. Coming into today, they’re 28th in batting average (.220), OBP (.289), and OPS (.640) against left-handed pitching in 2021. Montgomery is a ground ball-inducing pitcher who likes the keep the ball down, forcing batters to swing over, and this plays perfectly as Oakland leads the league in ground ball rate (49.4), so the infield is going to get a lot of work tonight

For how bad the Athletics and the probability of losing 100 games, they have talent in the rotation, with Paul Blackburn leading the way. He’s been especially outstanding on the road as he’s 5-0 with a 1.00 ERA, and it’s been against good offensive teams like the Guardians and Red Sox.

I like the Blackburn to keep this game close, but he’ll need a long outing because then you have the Oakland bullpen, who is 25th with a 4.49 ERA. This could be another late surge by New York for the win.

Texas Rangers vs. Kansas City Royals

  • Leg 1: Under 8.5 runs (-110)
  • Leg 2: Martin Perez under 4.5 strikeouts (+104)
  • Leg 3: Andrew Benintendi to record a hit (-230)

While the Rangers sit in second place in the AL West, they are still under .500 and 11 games out of first.

While the rotation has struggled, 11-year veteran Martin Perez has been the lone standout. With a 1.97 ERA this season, he’s pitching well above his career 4.51 ERA. The key for him has been the location of his pitches, especially that sinker, as he’s done well keeping it down and out of the hitter’s power zone. He doesn’t have blow-you-away stuff, but he prevents hitters from getting solid contact.

It was a rough first part of the year for the Royals’ starter Kris Bubic. He struggled during his first stint with Kansas City this season, but after regrouping in triple-a, he’s done better in his second time. In the four starts since being recalled, he has a 3.92 ERA, as opposed to the 12.83 he had before being sent down, and the team is 3-1 in his starts. The South Paw could have a solid game against Texas, who’s below average against lefties by being 19th with a .239 batting average and 23rd with .308 OBP.

This could be a pitcher’s duel with how well Perez has been all season and the improvements of Bubic in the last month. You can’t trust either offense to be consistent daily.

Minnesota Twins vs. Cleveland Guardians

  • Leg 1: Over 8.5 runs (-102)
  • Leg 2: Amed Rosario to record a hit (-240)
  • Leg 3: Carlos Correra to record 3+ total bases (+230)

Before being swept in Boston, the Guardians were one of the hottest teams in baseball, winning 11 of 13. This is an important four-games in Cleveland as they’re just two games out of first against the Twins.

Triston McKenzie will get his third shot this season against Minnesota, and he would like to redeem himself as he’s coming off his worse start of the year against the Twins allowing six earned in 4.1 innings. They’ve been able to find the power against McKenzie as they’ve hit five home runs against him in the two starts.

Sonny Gray will also get his third shot against the Guardians. He hasn’t looked good in these games, and he’s received the quick hook in both starts by not pitching out of the fifth inning. The first start mainly was control problems as he walked four, and then in the second, he was missing over the plate and not getting the ball where Gary Sanchez wanted it.

In Gray’s two starts against the Guardians, the total runs have gone over 20, including the 11-10 lost, with McKenzie starting the other side. You should be siding with both offenses having a good day.
