MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Friday, August 5 (2022)

Aug 5, 2022 - 4:17 PM

Some of the league’s best pitchers will be on the mound tonight in some great matchups. We have one former Cy Young winner that struggled earlier this year but is back into his 2021 form, while one is looking to join that club. Lastly, we have the weekend featured series between two teams in a close battle to win the division. Let’s take a look at the best MLB Same Game Parlay Odds and Picks for Friday, August 5.

Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels

  • Leg 1: Mariners ML (+106)
  • Leg 2: Robbie Ray over strikeouts (-116)
  • Leg 3: Ty France to record 2+ bases (-105)

The Mariners continue to play well through the All-Star break, and with the acquisition of Luis Castillo, they’ve established a rotation that is ready for October.

After a rough first half of the season, Robbie Ray has turned it around with a 1.36 ERA in his previous seven starts previous to the last two against Houston. He’s already had success against the Angels by going seven innings, allowing one earned and ten strikeouts.

The Angels are one of the most disappointing lineups this season as they lead the league with a 26.0 strikeout percentage, so expect the Ray to rack up the K’s.

Patrick Sandoval is trending in the opposite direction of Ray. He started as the Angels’ best-performing pitcher with a 2.63 ERA through June, but he comes in today 0-5 with a 6.20 ERA in his last five starts.

The Mariners are riding high after taking two of three against the Yankees, and even with the cross-country trip, Ray will pitch effectively and put in a position for the win.

Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets

  • Leg 1: Over 8.5 (-106)
  • Leg 2: Taijun Walker over 4.5 strikeouts (-144)
  • Leg 3:Austin Riley to record an RBI (+130)

With these separated by just a couple of games, this is an important series in the NL East.

The Braves have stormed back over the last couple of months and have erased a double-digit lead to contention for the division.

Ian Anderson will get the start, and after an impressive sophomore season with a 3.95 ERA and nine wins, he has struggled this year with a 4.99 ERA coming into today. He’s lost some movement to his fastball, and you see the effects going from a -13 run value with the pitch in 2021 to a +6 this season. The big reason he’s matched his nine wins from last year is thanks to the Braves lineup that gives him an average of 5.89 runs star, which is top five in the league.

New York will have Taijuan Walker on the mound, and after ten seasons in the league, he’s having a breakout season.

He’s getting excellent movement on his fastball with a 66% perfect break above average, and his splitter has undoubtedly become his best pitch as he has a 28.3% whiff rate, 26.3% strikeout rate, and a -14 run value.

The Mets have the best average and wRC+ since July 18, and while the Braves are too far behind, you have to back this offense against a struggling Anderson.

Chicago White Sox vs. Texas Rangers

  • Leg 1: White Sox -1.5 (-110)
  • Leg 2: Dylan Cease  over 7.5 strikeouts (-142)
  • Leg 3: Jose Abreu to record 2+ bases (+105)
  • Leg 4: Tim Anderson to record 2+ bases (-120)

Don’t look now, but Dylan Cease has charged into the Cy Young talks by going 7-2 with a 0.51 ERA and 11.6 strikeouts per nine in his last 12 starts. He’s coming in with another favorable matchup against a Rangers lineup that’s 20th this season batting .239, and you should eye the strikeout prop with the eighth-highest strikeout rate (23.5 %).

Glenn Otto will go for the Rangers, as he struggles this season, and he’s in the middle of an awful losing streak. Otto has lost five straight decisions, and the Rangers have lost seven straight of his starts.

This is an excellent game to back Cease and the Sox.
