Top 3 MLB Player Props for Saturday, August 6th (2022)

Aug 6, 2022 - 1:26 PM

It’s a stacked Saturday in sports, including a 17-game Major League Baseball slate. The extra pair of games are due to two doubleheaders with the Braves playing the Mets twice and Angels and Mariners squaring off for two games. Let’s get right into my top three player props for today.

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook

Rhys Hoskins O/U 1.5 Total Bases

The Phillies won each of the first two games of their four-game weekend series with the Nationals. They’ll look to keep it rolling tonight as they turn to Ranger Suarez. As for the Nats, they’ll go with Patrick Corbin to help get them back into the win column. This N.L. East clash is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. ET from Citizens Bank Park.

To be frank, Corbin has been horrible this season for Washington. The southpaw comes in at 4-15 with a 6.57 ERA and 1.77 WHIP over 22 starts. His ERA takes a significant tick upwards when throwing away from home, where it sits at 8.43. Corbin’s WHIP also increases to 2.00 over 10 road starts this year.

Furthermore, the Phillies have had Corbin’s number in his career. The team is 41-134 (.306) with eight home runs and nine doubles. That includes Rhys Hoskins coming in at 9-29 (.310) with two long balls and four doubles. I like for the star first baseman to record at least two total bases tonight. Hoskins is 3-4 (.750) in the series with two home runs.

Bet: Rhys Hoskins Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115 via DraftKings)

Alec Bohm O/U 1.5 Total Bases

Keeping it in the same game and moving down one spot in the order, let’s lock in the over on Alec Bohm’s total bases tonight. The 26-year-old third baseman is hitting .296 on the year with eight home runs and an OPS of .742. Bohm’s 2-6 (.333) in the series and launched a big fly in Thursday’s 5-4 win over Washington. He’s seen Patrick Corbin very well in his career, going 5-14 (.357) against him with two homers.

Bet: Alec Bohm Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100 via DraftKings)

Miguel Cabrera O/U 0.5 Total Bases

The Tigers dropped each of the first two games of their four-game set with the Rays to start the weekend. They’ll have a tall task ahead of them if they want to get back in the win column as they’re running into Shane McClanahan tonight. As for Detroit, they’ll go with Garrett Hill in this A.L. showdown set for 6:10 p.m. ET from Motown.

McClanahan has been arguably the best pitcher in the American League this season. He comes into tonight’s game at 10-4 with a 2.07 ERA (4th) and 0.83 WHIP (1st). However, the left-hander is coming off of his worst start of the year against the Guardians on Sunday. McClanahan gave up five earned runs on seven hits and three walks in the losing effort.

McClanahan faced the Tigers in May of this year and limited them to one earned run on four hits over 7.0 innings. One player to really struggle against the lefty was Miguel Cabrera. He went 0-4 in the game with two punchouts. Miggy is now 0-5 (.000) lifetime against McClanahan, so I’m going to ride with the under on his total bases tonight.

Bet: Miguel Cabrera Under 0.5 Total Bases (+145 via DraftKings)
