White Sox agree to terms with OF Podsednik on one-year deal

Dec 1, 2006 - 5:39 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) - The Chicago White Sox avoided arbitration with Scott Podsednik on Friday, agreeing to a one-year, $2.9 million contract with the outfielder.

The 30-year-old Podsednik batted .261 with three home runs, 45 RBI and 40 stolen bases in 139 games with the White Sox last season.

Chicago acquired Podsednik from the Milwaukee Brewers in December 2004 with pitcher Luis Vizcaino and first baseman Travis Hinton for outfielder Carlos Lee. In two seasons with the White Sox, including a World Series title in 2005, Podsednik has batted .275 with 99 steals.

Over the last three seasons, Podsednik has led the majors with 169 steals.
