A Pod of Their Own: Developmental Objectives

Mar 28, 2023 - 1:30 PM

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.

This week, we begin by discussing the Mets’ final decisions for the Opening Day roster, including the surprising choice to roster neither Brett Baty nor Darin Ruf, but Tim Locastro instead. We also talk about Billy Eppler’s word salad quote that he gave as a justification for sending Baty to the minor leagues.

In our baseball segment this week, we cover Mike Elias’ justification (also word salad) for not rostering Grayson Rodriguez, the Braves’ City Connect jerseys, and the progress on Major League Baseball’s efforts to exempt minor leaguers from minimum wage laws in Florida.

Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
