Spurs continue home dominance over Warriors

Dec 9, 2010 - 7:29 AM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tony Parker scored 19 points and dished out nine assists, leading the San Antonio Spurs to yet another home victory over the Golden State Warriors, 111-94, at AT&T Center.

DeJuan Blair was a factor down low with 15 points and a season-high 13 rebounds for the Spurs, who have beaten Golden State 25 straight times at home and 10 consecutive times overall. At 18-3, San Antonio is off to its best 21- game start in franchise history.

"I thought everyone did a really good job of finding the open man," said Spurs head coach Gregg Popvich. "Being aggressive but understanding that teammates were open and making the easy pass to the next guy. I thought everybody did that very well."

For some historical perspective, the last time the Warriors won in the Alamo City -- during the 1996-97 season -- superstar Tim Duncan was a rookie. Duncan, who has since won three NBA titles and two NBA MVPs, scored only eight points in limited action in this contest.

Reggie Williams exploded for a season-high 31 points on a career-best eight three-point shots made for the Warriors, who have lost five straight and 10 of 11. Monta Ellis added 19 points, while David Lee had 16 with 13 rebounds in defeat.

"We played a very good team on the road here," Lee said. "We made our runs and we never stopped playing hard. But overall, too many turnovers and not enough good defense."

In some worse news for Golden State, sharpshooter Stephen Curry left after spraining his ankle in the second quarter. He finished with zero points.

The Warriors held a 9-4 lead early, but it was all Spurs from there.

From there, the Spurs scored 16 straight points to take the lead for good. Parker had seven points during the surge, and Blair's bucket with 6 1/2 minutes left in the period made it 20-9.

The margin stood at 29-19 after the first quarter, though the Warriors pulled to within 48-45 on a Lee driving layup with 1:23 left until halftime.

San Antonio, though, scored nine of the final 11 points, and Manu Ginobili's three made it 57-47 at the break. The Spurs opened the second half on another 9-2 run to grab a 66-49 lead on back-to-back Duncan layups, and the home team held the lead throughout the third to take an 86-74 lead to the fourth.

The outcome was never in doubt in the fourth, as the Spurs led by double digits the entire way.
