Udrih, Kings bury Wizards
Dec 9, 2010 - 6:53 AM Sacramento, CA (Sports Network) - Beno Udrih scored 23 points, Jason Thompson had 22 with 14 rebounds and the Sacramento Kings ended an eight-game losing streak with a 116-91 victory over Washington.Pooh Jeter added 13 points and Omri Casspi had 12 for the Kings, who won for the first time since November 19.
"It definitely feels good," said Sacramento head coach Paul Westphal.
The Wizards, meanwhile, remained winless on the road this season, falling to 0-12 despite getting 20 points from Al Thornton, 19 from Gilbert Arenas and 18 from Kirk Hinrich.
The Kings snapped their eight-game losing streak by also getting off the schneid against Washington. Coming into the game, the Wizards had won nine of the last 10 meetings.
Sacramento took control in the second quarter after ending the first with a 27-26 deficit.
The Kings shot 52 percent in the second, held Washington to 29 percent shooting and outscored the visitors by 15 points for a 59-45 lead at halftime. Most of the damage was done during a 17-4 run, capped by a Casspi three to make it 49-38.
Sacramento's lead grew to 21 several times in the third quarter and it reached 22 on Evans' three-pointer at the buzzer, which made it 92-70.
The Kings went ahead by as many as 32 in the fourth when Jeter hit a pair of free throws at 4:38 for a 110-78 advantage.
Westphal praised his team's all-around play, but particularly focused on bench guys like Jeter and Casspi.
"I thought we played defense really well pretty much the whole game, made shots and we really got an injection of energy," said Westphal. "We got a nice lead, upped it and then put the game away."
