Warriors pepper Sixers with 3s in win

Dec 28, 2010 - 7:43 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Dorell Wright led a balanced Golden State attack with 28 points, as the Warriors used precise long-distance shooting to beat Philadelphia, 110-95, at Oracle Arena.

Wright went 5-of-7 from three-point range, part of a 15-of-23 effort for the Warriors, who have won three in a row for the first time since a similar streak from April 1-5, 2009.

"I have to be a little more aggressive," Wright said. "When I start making a few shots guys start going for my head fakes so I just got to start utilizing that. It's an ability I have to get to the basket and have to start doing it more."

Monta Ellis provided 22 points and 12 assists in the victory, while David Lee tallied 21 points and 16 rebounds. Stephen Curry, who scored 17 to go with eight assists, made 4-of-6 three-point shots.

Jrue Holiday scored 23 to go with 11 assists for the Sixers, who were without swingman Andre Iguodala. He sat out due to tendinitis in his right Achilles, an injury that caused him to miss several games earlier in the season. The team is hoping Iguodala can return for Wednesday's game in Phoenix.

Jodie Meeks had 19 points and Elton Brand finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds in defeat. Spencer Hawes pulled down 12 rebounds.

Brand's pull-up jumper had Philadelphia within 78-73 two minutes into the last quarter, but the combination of Lee and Curry were too much for the Sixers to overcome in the fourth. The duo combined for 22 of Golden State's 34 points in the period.

A three-pointer from Vladimir Radmanovic expanded the difference to 85-75 with 8 1/2 minutes left, and then Lee capped the spurt with a pair of free throws. The Sixers never got closer than nine after that, and Golden State stretched the lead to 16 before game's end.

Despite falling behind 16-4 early, the Sixers held a 30-25 lead after the first quarter. The Warriors got nine points from Ellis in the second and went to the half holding a 55-49 advantage.

Neither team got separation in the third quarter, although consecutive three- pointers from Wright and Ellis gave the hosts a 74-68 lead with 2:20 left in the period. It was 76-71 going to the fourth.
