Jackson helps Bobcats take down Warriors in OT

Jan 29, 2011 - 7:29 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Stephen Jackson scored 31 points, including a three-pointer with 1.9 seconds remaining to force overtime, as the Charlotte Bobcats rallied to beat the Golden State Warriors, 121-113, at Oracle Arena.

D.J. Augustin posted 27 points and 12 assists for the Bobcats, who improved to 3-0 on their six-game road trip. Boris Diaw and Nazr Mohammed both netted 13 points for Charlotte, which overcame a 16-point deficit late in the third quarter.

Stephen Curry had 27 points to pace the Warriors, who have dropped four in a row. Monta Ellis scored 21 points on 6-of-24 shooting, while Dorell Wright also finished with 21 points in the loss.

Ellis knocked down a trey to give Golden State a seemingly comfortable 76-60 lead with 2:37 left in the third quarter. Charlotte ended the frame on an 11-0 run and closed to within 83-82 on a pair of Gerald Henderson free throws midway through the fourth quarter.

A thunderous dunk by Wright put the Warriors up 100-95 with 27.8 seconds remaining, but the Bobcats refused to go away. Jackson was fouled behind the arc and made all three attempts from the charity stripe.

After Ellis made 1-of-2 free throws, Gerald Wallace missed a three-pointer at the other end. Augustin, though, secured the offensive rebound and dished to Jackson, who sank his long-range jumper near the end of regulation.

Jackson buried a turnaround jumper to begin the extra frame, giving Charlotte its first lead since early in the first quarter.

With the teams knotted at 105-105, Augustin hit a pullup jumper to ignite a 7-0 burst. Golden State trimmed its deficit to four on two occasions, the last coming at 117-113 with 38.6 seconds left, but Augustin converted four free throws to seal the win.

"We had a chance to win the game and we didn't," Curry said. "It's really frustrating when we play hard. It's not like our effort was the reason we lost. We just had lapses where we couldn't rebound, gave up too many baskets down low and we let them back in the game."

The Warriors led 28-22 after the opening 12 minutes and maintained their six- point advantage at halftime.

Charlotte has won five of its last six games overall...The Warriors fell to 0-3 on their eight-game homestand...The Bobcats have won three straight in Oakland.
