Randolph, Grizzlies handle Clippers
Mar 15, 2011 - 5:37 AM Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Zach Randolph led the way with 30 points and 12 rebounds, as the Memphis Grizzlies handled the Los Angeles Clippers, 105-82, at FedEx Forum.Sam Young and Mike Conley netted 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Memphis, which recovered from a 118-85 drubbing at the hands of Miami on Saturday and has won three of its last five overall.
Darrell Arthur chipped in with 12 points off the bench for the Grizzlies, who improved to 22-10 at home this season. Greivis Vasquez added a career-high 11 points in a reserve role.
"This was a big game for us cause we wanted to throw that last game behind us," said Arthur. "We didn't want to linger on it too long. The thing about the NBA is you always have another game."
Eric Bledsoe had a team-best 19 points, while Chris Kaman went for 14 for the Clippers, who had won five of six coming into the contest. Blake Griffin finished with eight points and nine boards.
"We missed some easy ones tonight," said Griffin. "It was just kinda like we were just out there, not really doing much of anything."
Memphis held a slim 21-20 lead after the opening quarter, but it started to pull away in the second. Vasquez's dunk finished off a string of eight straight to put the Grizzlies in front 33-24 with 7:50 left before the half.
Randolph made two layups and a three-pointer to put the hosts up by 17 with 12 seconds remaining, but Mo Williams hit from long distance with two ticks to go to make it a 50-36 game at the intermission.
In the third, Memphis continued to put distance between itself and the Clippers, as Arthur's jumper with 2:58 remaining capped a 16-4 run to make it 73-48 and the Grizzlies were up by 22 at the end of three.
The outcome was never in doubt in the fourth, as Memphis held a comfortable double-digit lead throughout and cruised to the easy victory.
