Cavs post consecutive wins for first time since November

Apr 7, 2011 - 6:32 AM Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - J.J. Hickson scored 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a rare road win, 104-96, over the Toronto Raptors.

Baron Davis tallied 19 points and 12 assists for the Cavaliers, who held a decisive 60-40 scoring advantage in the opening half. Cleveland, which moved to 6-33 on the road this season, won its second in a row overall for the first time since a three-game streak, November 5-9. That was the team's only other set of back-to-back wins this season.

Jerryd Bayless scored 28 off the bench for the Raptors, losers of two straight and eight of nine games.

"I'm getting an opportunity right now and it's going well," Bayless said of his personal achievements.

The Raptors shot just 6-of-21 in the opening quarter and fell behind quickly. After scoring the game's first two points, the Raptors gave up the next nine and trailed 28-17 after one period.

Cleveland's lead was double-digits for almost the entire second quarter and reached as high as 22 on Hickson's two free throws in the final minute. That helped provide the huge cushion at the half. Hickson went 7-of-10 from the field over the first 24 minutes and had 21 points at the break.

The double-digit margin remained throughout the third and was 77-64 moving to the fourth. A three-pointer from Sonny Weems capped a 7-0 spurt for the hosts, getting the Raptors within 81-76 with 8 1/2 minutes left.

Ramon Sessions stemmed the tide with a layup and the Raptors didn't get closer than six the rest of the game.

"We knew they would come back, but we played through it," Cavs center Ryan Hollins said.

DeMar DeRozan scored 19 and Weems had 17 in a losing cause. Toronto also got 15 points and 13 boards from Reggie Evans.
