Final
Wizards down Cavs
Apr 26, 2012 - 3:39 AM Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - John Wall led the way with 21 points, 13 assists, seven rebounds and seven steals as the Washington Wizards took down the Cleveland Cavaliers, 96-85, on Wednesday."I got into the lane, I just found some shooters, caught some of our big guys cutting to the basket," Wall said of his assists.
Nene and Kevin Seraphin chipped in 12 points apiece while James and Chris Singleton each scored 10 for the Wizards, who have won five straight.
D.J. Kennedy led the hosts with 12 points and Antawn Jamison donated 10, as the Cavaliers lost their sixth in seven tries. Standout rookie guard Kyrie Irving, who had been listed as doubtful, was limited to five points in under 10 minutes.
"[Irving] told me he wanted to play because it was fan appreciation night," Cavs head coach Byron Scott said. "He said, 'Coach, just 10 minutes.'"
Cleveland saw a nine-point second-quarter advantage evaporate by halftime.
After treading water for a bit to open the second half, the Wizards embarked on a 10-2 run late in the third to take a 71-58 lead. That edge was extended to 14 by the beginning of the fourth, and the Cavs never challenged in the final stanza.
Jan Vesley's slam dunk three-point play pushed the visitors' lead to 17 late in the game, and although Cleveland scored the final six points, it still trailed by double-digits throughout the fourth.
Both teams shot roughly 42 percent from the floor in the first half, but Washington used a 28-point second quarter to go up 49-45 at intermission.
