McRoberts leads Bobcats past Bucks

Apr 14, 2013 - 3:21 AM Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Josh McRoberts filled out the stat sheet with 18 points, nine rebounds and a career-high nine assists and Bismack Biyombo recorded a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 17 boards as Charlotte downed Milwaukee, 95-85, on Saturday to hand the Bucks a ninth straight road loss.

Kemba Walker scored 21 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists and tied Brevin Knight's (2005-06) franchise record for steals in a season with 157 for the Bobcats, who saw a four-game losing streak come to an end.

"He made some good basketball plays with the pass," Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap said of McRoberts, "that's the thing. The crowd appreciates that. And also he's a lot more offensive-minded tonight."

Mike Dunleavy had 19 points and Monta Ellis added 16 for the Bucks, who already clinched a spot in the playoffs, but have dropped four straight and 11 of 14 overall.

John Henson supplied eight points and 11 rebounds in defeat for Milwaukee, which hasn't found victory on the road since a March 10 win over Sacramento.

The Bucks are now guaranteed the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference and will play top-seeded defending champion Miami in the first round.

"It's not surprise," Dunleavy said of facing the Heat. "We've been headed in that direction for the last month now, so we know we what have ahead of us. We have to go finish out these last couple games and some how, some way start playing a little better before we face this monumental task ahead of us."

The home team held a double-digit edge for most of the fourth quarter until Dunleavy hit a triple to bring the Bucks within 86-77 with five minutes to play. Less than one minute later, Gustavo Ayon made it a seven-point contest, but that's the closest the visitors got until Henson's hook shot with 23.5 ticks left. By that point, though, the damage had been done.

After neither team scored for 2 1/2 minutes, Walker's open court slam with 1:25 remaining put the hosts up 11 and allowed the Bobcats to secure the victory.

Ellis tied the contest early in the third quarter with a 3-pointer, but the Bobcats utilized a 12-2 spurt with Biyombo supplying six points during the run which made it 63-53 with 5:46 remaining.

McRoberts made up for a missed dunk earlier in the quarter with a nice driving slam at the 2:53 mark to make it 67-56. The hosts rode the momentum by closing the stanza on a 9-3 swing to head into the fourth up 76-59.

The Bucks shot just 6-of-20 from the field in the third and totaled 15 points.

The Bobcats kicked off the second quarter with a 16-4 swing to take a 40-27 lead four-plus minutes in. Walker's floater with 1:41 left before the half made it a nine-point game, before Ayon's layup in the closing seconds brought Milwaukee within 49-44 at the break.

Charlotte held onto a 24-23 advantage after the first quarter.

Game Notes

Charlotte improved to 13-26 at home this season ... Milwaukee last lost nine consecutive road games from December 5 - 31, 2007 ... Milwaukee was again without Larry Sanders (back) and Brandon Jennings (Achilles) after the two were injured in an overtime loss to Orlando on Wednesday ... The Bucks set a season-high for points in a 131-102 win over the Bobcats on April 1, but have dropped seven of their last eight in Charlotte.
