Raptors down Bucks, set club wins record

Apr 15, 2014 - 3:59 AM Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Raptors set a franchise record for wins in a season with a 110-100 victory over the league-worst Milwaukee Bucks.

Greivis Vasquez made five 3-pointers en route to 25 points for the Atlantic Division-champion Raptors (48-33), who remained tied with the Bulls for the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference. Chicago beat Orlando on Monday.

"I always have been ready for any opportunity since I got here," Vasquez said. "I'm all about winning and they gave me a chance to start, and I want to help the team win and have a presence in games."

Kyle Lowry added 24 points for Toronto, which has scored 100 or more points in seven straight games. Jonas Valanciunas tallied 14 points and 13 rebounds and Tyler Hansbrough donated 12 points and 11 boards.

The Raptors went 4-0 against Milwaukee this season to record their first season sweep of the Bucks in franchise history.

Ramon Sessions ended with 21 points and five assists for the Bucks, who have lost 14 in a row on the road. Jeff Adrien and Brandon Knight added 19 and 18 points, respectively, with Adrien also pulling down nine rebounds.

Milwaukee (15-66) will finish with the worst record in the NBA.

Holding a 9-8 lead with 7:22 left in the first quarter, the Raptors went on a 16-6 run. Vasquez made a trio of 3-pointers during the surge to make it a 25-14 contest.

Toronto led by 13 after one stanza and scored the first four points of the second to make it 36-19. The home team took a 59-46 lead into the locker room.

Lowry had 10 points in the third frame as the Raptors took an 84-69 lead into the fourth.

Milwaukee managed to cut the gap to six, 92-86, with 6:53 to play, but Toronto responded with a 7-2 spurt. The Bucks never got closer than eight after that.

"We fell behind, we tried to fight back," Milwaukee coach Larry Drew said. "We got it under 10, but we just couldn't get over the hump."

Game Notes

Both Toronto and Chicago have one game left, but the Raptors own the tiebreaker advantage over the Bulls by virtue of winning the Atlantic Division. Toronto plays at the Knicks on Wednesday, while the Bulls head to Charlotte to face the Bobcats on Wednesday ... The Bucks end the regular season on Wednesday against the Hawks.
