Spurs' Big 3 make history in rout of Thunder

May 22, 2014 - 4:44 AM San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili made history on Wednesday night and helped the San Antonio Spurs to yet another convincing victory.

San Antonio's Big 3 combined for 47 points to lead the Spurs to a 112-77 drubbing of the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

Parker scored a game-high 22 points, Duncan went for 14 with 12 rebounds and Ginobili added 11 points off the bench in the blowout, as the Spurs leave the comfy confines of AT&T Center for Oklahoma City with a commanding 2-0 series lead. In league history, 94-percent of teams to open a seven-game set 2-0 have gone on to advance.

"We know what we're walking into," Duncan said. "They're so much better at home. They're going to have a lot of days to let is all fester."

"We cannot take anything for granted," added Ginobili. "It is never over until you win the fourth game."

The three longtime teammates also passed Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Michael Cooper as the all-time winningest trio in NBA playoff history, winning their 111th postseason game together.

Duncan also racked up just under 29 minutes, passing Abdul-Jabbar for second most playoff minutes in league history in the process. Duncan is just 27 minutes back of Kobe Bryant's all-time mark of 8,641 and barring injury will pass him later in this series.

Danny Green made 7-of-10 from 3-point range for the Spurs, who won Monday's Game 1, 122-105.

While Serge Ibaka continues to be sidelined with a calf strain, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook didn't do nearly enough to make up for his absence. The MVP and his electric point guard netted just 15 points apiece on 16 and 24 shots, respectively. The other three OKC starters only scored four points between them.

"We're disappointed," said Thunder head coach Scott Brooks. "We're disappointed in how the game turned out."

The Thunder led 26-24 after the first quarter but were outscored 88-51 the rest of the way.

San Antonio used a big run late in the second quarter to pull away, and Duncan, Parker and Ginobili had their fingerprints all over it. It was 36-33 OKC at 7:47 before Duncan followed a Parker layup with two free throws to put the Spurs on top for good. Ginobili followed with a layup, Parker hit a 15- footer and Ginobili made two from the stripe for a 10-0 spurt, which Westbrook finally ended with a driving layup in traffic.

Green then got in on the action, canning 3-pointers around a Boris Diaw reverse layup. Tired legs plagued the Thunder down the stretch of the half. The Spurs kept their penultimate possession alive with a pair of offensive rebounds, leading to a deep Ginobili 3-ball from the left wing that sent the teams into halftime with a 58-44 margin.

In Game 1, the Thunder came out of the locker rooms with a big third quarter to go in front before faltering down the stretch. The veteran-led Spurs wouldn't let that be the case in this one.

The Spurs started the third on a 21-8 flurry and never looked back.

Game 3 is set for Sunday in OKC.

Game Notes

The Spurs have now won seven of their last eight games. In those seven victories, they have won by an average of 21.9 points ... Green is now 15- for-21 from 3 since the start of Game 5 against Portland ... The Spurs improved to 17-0 this season when Green makes at least four 3-pointers ... San Antonio is outscoring OKC 110-74 in the paint through two games ... The Thunder won the regular season series, 4-0.
