Raptors top Hawks for sixth straight win

Nov 27, 2014 - 6:47 AM Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - DeMar DeRozan scored 27 points and Kyle Lowry deposited 14 with 13 assists as the Toronto Raptors rallied past the Atlanta Hawks, 126-115, to win their sixth straight game.

Lou Williams and Greivis Vasquez scored 22 and 21 points, respectively, in another dominant bench effort for the Raptors. Toronto's reserves outscored their counterparts, 52-27.

All five starters also reached double figures for the Raptors, who own the best record in the NBA at 13-2 and have won six in a row for the first time since March 22 - April 4, 2009. Terrence Ross scored 12, Jonas Valanciunas had 11 with seven rebounds and Amir Johnson added 10 points.

"We knew they played last night," said Raptors head coach Dwane Casey. "We knew we were going to come out and put the pedal to the metal. It paid dividends for us."

Pero Antic tied the score with a triple late in the third quarter, but Williams countered at the other end. After putting a series of moves on former teammate Dennis Schroder, Williams decided to pull up from 26 feet and can a 3 to send the Raptors into the fourth with a 91-88 lead.

Vasquez then scored every point during a 9-2 flurry that gave the visitors a 10-point edge early in the fourth.

They led the rest of the way despite a late Atlanta rally had the Hawks within four. James Johnson's reverse slam in transition from Lowry capped a 9-0 run and put the finishing touches on an impressive road win.

Jeff Teague finished with 24 points and 12 assists for Atlanta, which had its two-game win streak snapped.

"They just made plays," said Teague. "Made some tough shots. Got some key offensive rebounds."

Al Horford had 23 points and nine rebounds and Kyle Korver hit four 3s en route to 19 points.

Toronto led 34-24 after one, but the Hawks shot 11-for-15 in the second quarter, including 6-for-8 from behind the arc. DeMarre Carroll ended the half with a triple to pull the Hawks within three, 64-61, at halftime.
