Hawks hold off slumping Bucks

Mar 31, 2015 - 3:37 AM Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Korver only finished with 11 points, but they came in a 65-second span in the Atlanta Hawks' 101-88 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.

At 5:49 in the third quarter, Korver hit his first 3 of the game. On the next three possessions, he scored eight more points. Atlanta's lead ballooned from five points to 16, and it held on from there to win for the third time in four games.

DeMarre Carroll led the Hawks with 23 points, Al Horford contributed 18, and Paul Millsap finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

"It was a pretty consistent effort on both ends of the court," said Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer.

Milwaukee continued its second-half slide with its 11th straight road loss despite Zaza Pachulia posting 17 points and 13 rebounds against his former team. Giannis Antetokounmpo paced the Bucks with 18 points.

Offensively and defensively, there was not enough energy. That's what we've built our foundation on, and we just had another no-show tonight," Bucks coach Jason Kidd said.

After Korver's surge gave Atlanta its largest lead of the game, Milwaukee got five points from Jerryd Bayless in a 9-0 run to get back into the game. Horford's jumper in the closing seconds of the third put the Hawks up 72-64 with 12 minutes to play.

Carroll scored the first five points of the final quarter to extend Atlanta's edge to 13, and the Bucks would not get any closer than nine the rest of the way.

Offense was not easy to come by early in the opening period, but the Hawks went on a 13-0 run starting at the end of the first and carrying over into the second to go up 31-20. Pero Antic started the spurt with a difficult three- point play, and Horford scored four early points in the second period before Pachulia ended Milwaukee's scoring drought of over five minutes.

The Bucks made seven of their last nine shots in the first half, but the Hawks led 46-39 at the break.

Game Notes

Atlanta won the season series, 3-1, and this was the first victory for the home team ... The Hawks improved to 24-0 at home when allowing fewer than 100 points ... Atlanta guard Dennis Schroder left the game in the first quarter with a toe injury ... Bucks guard Michael Carter-Williams finished with four points on 1-of-6 shooting.
