Memphis survives Hornets in double-OT

Randolph split a pair from the foul line to start the second overtime period and hit a 16-foot jumper at 1:46 that made it 109-105. Mike Conley made four free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Marc Gasol and Conley both had 19 points for Memphis, which has topped the 100-point mark for the fourth straight game.
Kemba Walker scored a game-high 28 points for the Hornets, who have lost five straight away from home. Gary Neal added 25 points off the bench, and while Gerald Henderson only scored 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting, his acrobatic tip- in at the end of regulation forced overtime.
"We played hard, but they're a really good team," Walker said. "At the end of the day that's what matters."
Neal opened the fourth quarter with consecutive jumpers to extend Charlotte's lead, which it held through most of the second half, to 76-69.
The Grizzlies buckled down defensively after that, holding the Hornets to just five more points over the next eight minutes. They took a lead on four straight from Gasol with 4 1/2 remaining.
Gasol's jumper at 1:44 to play made it 90-85. Walker hit a runner at the other end, and Neal drew a foul on Tony Allen shooting a 3-ball with time winding down in the shot clock on Charlotte's next possession. He made all three free throws to tie it.
With time winding down in regulation, Conley slipped a pocket pass to a cutting Gasol, whose jam made it 92-90.
Walker missed a pull-up 3 in Conley's face out of a timeout, and the ball bounced around before Henderson climbed the ladder and tipped it in at the buzzer.
Trailing by four, Charlotte rattled off seven straight in the extra session to go up 102-99. On Memphis' final possession, the ball was worked around the perimeter to Vince Carter, who drained a corner 3-ball with 4.5 seconds to play.
Henderson could have won it for the Hornets, but his turnaround jumper missed long.
Memphis led by as many as 12 points late in the first quarter and took a 47-45 lead into halftime.
"We came out very sluggish...but we deserved to win the way we played in the second half," Grizzlies head coach David Joerger said.
Game Notes
