Lopez, Nets beat Pacers
Mar 22, 2015 - 5:02 AM Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - So much for tired legs.Just 24 hours after edging the Bucks in triple overtime, Brook Lopez scored 26 points to lead the Brooklyn Nets to a 123-111 triumph over the Indiana Pacers.
Bojan Bogdanovic contributed 21 points on 8-for-8 shooting off the bench and Deron Williams netted 17 for the Nets, who had lost their last five meetings with Indiana.
The Pacers, who entered the game in a virtual tie with Boston for the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, failed to pick up a game on the idle Celtics. Instead, they slipped to 10th place, just a half-game ahead of the Nets.
George Hill had 18 points and nine assists to lead a balanced scoring attack for Indiana, losers in five straight games on the heels of a 7-0 stretch. Solomon Hill and Luis Scola added 17 points apiece.
"You can only worry about the next game now," said Hill. "This game is over."
All five Nets starters scored in the first quarter, led by Williams' 15 on 6- of-9 shooting. All five reserves entered the scoring column by 7:41 of the second, with Cory Jefferson's dunk extending Brooklyn's lead to 47-38.
The Pacers used an extended 19-7 run that bridged halftime to tie the score at 70 five minutes into the third. They briefly took the lead moments after that on four straight points from Roy Hibbert, but Lopez scored the period's last three to put Brooklyn back in front, 88-87, after three.
Bogdanovic scored five during an 8-0 spurt to open the fourth and extend Brooklyn's lead to nine. It was back to one when Joe Johnson and Bogdanovic led a 10-2 run that put the game away.
"Everybody contributed tonight, and we were able to hold them off," said Nets coach Lionel Hollins.
