Nuggets snap skid with win over Pacers

Nov 15, 2014 - 1:30 PM Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Arron Afflalo led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points as the Denver Nuggets snapped a six-game losing streak with a thorough 108-87 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

The Nuggets won their season opener against Detroit two weeks ago and proceeded to lose six in a row by an average of 13.3 points, including an embarrassing home loss to Portland on Wednesday when they surrendered 84 points in the first half alone.

The table was turned on Friday, as Denver committed just eight turnovers, shot 49.4 percent from the floor and led by as many as 33.

Seven Nuggets scored in double figures. Ty Lawson totaled 11 points and 10 assists while Wilson Chandler and Gary Harris each chipped in with 13 points.

"We had the intensity," said Nuggets coach Brian Shaw. "Everybody contributed who played the game tonight in one capacity or another."

A.J. Price's 14 points led the way for Indiana.

The Pacers had won two in a row coming in but were never in contention after being outscored 34-19 in the second quarter.

"You have to give credit to the Nuggets," Pacers head coach Frank Vogel said. "They clearly played with great desperation and had us on our heels all night."

Danilo Gallinari's four-point play had the Nuggets in front 42-35 near the midway point of the period, and Denver's 8-0 run to end the half, capped by a Lawson-to-Kenneth Faried alley-oop, yielded a 64-46 advantage at the break.

The Nuggets extended the lead with a 13-0 spurt in the third quarter. Lawson opened the surge with a 3-pointer and Afflalo's layup in transition gave the visitors an 84-52 cushion with under five minutes on the clock.

The only takeaway from the fourth quarter was a Harris tomahawk dunk over a pair of Indiana defenders that summed up the contest.

Harris, the 19th overall pick in the 2014 draft, had missed the first seven games due to a back injury.

Game Notes

Indiana's C.J. Miles exited early and did not return due to a sore right calf ... Gallinari and Faried each scored 12 points, while Darrell Arthur rounded out Denver's top scorers with 11 ... Donald Sloan, Lavoy Allen and Solomon Hill netted 12 points for Indiana.
