Sixers end road skid with win in Denver

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Robert Covington had 25 points and six rebounds off the bench, helping the Philadelphia 76ers end their 16-game road losing streak with a 99-85 win over the Denver Nuggets.

The Sixers outscored the Nuggets 27-9 in the fourth quarter.

"To hold them to nine points ... that's a good effort," Sixers coach Brett Brown said.

Nerlens Noel posted 14 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks and Isaiah Canaan netted 15 points for Philadelphia, which has won three of its last five games.

Ty Lawson supplied 19 points and six assists and Wilson Chandler added 16 points and 11 boards for the Nuggets, who have dropped four of their last five games.

"We never really found a pace to get on," Lawson said.

The game was tied 81-81 before the Sixers closed it on an 18-4 run.

Covington, Canaan and Hollis Thompson nailed 3-pointers for Philly's first nine points of the surge for a 90-83 margin with 1:56 to play. It was 7-of-8 from the foul line to close the game out.

The Sixers led 22-21 following a quarter of play and 49-46 at the break.

Covington knocked down four of his six 3s in the third, but Denver outscored Philly 30-23 in the frame and took a 76-72 edge into the fourth.
