Bledsoe lifts Suns past Pistons
Nov 20, 2014 - 4:42 AM Auburn Hills, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Eric Bledsoe's go-ahead layup with 28.7 seconds left lifted the Phoenix Suns to an 88-86 win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.Right after Kentavious Caldwell-Pope knocked down a left corner 3-pointer to stake Detroit to an 86-85 edge, Bledsoe knifed through the lane and snuck his layup past Greg Monroe before he was able to block it.
Markieff Morris blocked a Brandon Jennings layup attempt with about five seconds to go and Caldwell-Pope's top of the arc triple was off the mark.
Bledsoe split a pair of foul shots with 1.3 ticks on the clock and Jennings' heave at the horn was well short.
"They let me get the ball and make plays in the fourth quarter and that's what I do," Bledsoe said.
Bledsoe finished with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Suns, who moved to 2-1 on their six-game road trip.
P.J. Tucker had 16 points and seven rebounds and Goran Dragic added 12 points and four helpers in the triumph.
Jennings posted 19 points and seven assists and Monroe provided 18 points and 12 boards for Detroit, which has dropped six of its last seven games.
"It's too bad they got an easy one as they did to win it," Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said.
Phoenix led 21-19 after a quarter of play and 44-43 at the break.
Miles Plumlee capped a 9-2 spurt with a short hook shot to stake the Suns to a 58-49 advantage midway through the third, but Jennings finished a 6-0 Pistons swing later in the frame with two free throws to tie the game at 61-61.
Phoenix took a 65-64 edge into the fourth.
