Pistons rout Wizards behind KCP, Jackson

Feb 22, 2015 - 11:13 PM Auburn Hills, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 26 points and Reggie Jackson scored 17 in his Pistons debut, leading Detroit to a 106-89 win over the Washington Wizards on Sunday.

Andre Drummond added 18 points and 16 rebounds and Greg Monroe scored 15 with 15 rebounds for the Pistons, who improved to 2-1 on a five-game homestand.

Jackson, who started, added five assists in his first game since Detroit acquired him from Oklahoma City for fellow point guard D.J. Augustin and forward Kyle Singler prior to the NBA trade deadline on Thursday.

He was 6-for-9 shooting in the second half after missing eight of his first nine shots.

Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said the 24-year-old point guard was a little too emotional in the first half.

"He was so hyped up," Van Gundy said. "In the second half, he looked like the guy we traded for, attacking the basket, using his athleticism, making plays."

Marcin Gortat had 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead Washington and John Wall scored 10 with 12 assists.

The Wizards have lost three in a row and eight of their last 10 games. They were coming off a 127-89 loss to LeBron James and Cleveland on Friday to open the second half of the season.

Caldwell-Pope scored half of his 26 points in the third quarter to lead a Pistons surge. He had the final eight points of an 11-0 run to end the period, knocking down two 3s and converting his own steal into a dunk.

He was 6-for-13 on 3-pointers in the game and the Pistons went 13-of-32.

They took an 82-71 lead into the fourth quarter and it was never closer than 11 the rest of the way.

Caldwell-Pope scored 10 points in the first quarter and Detroit led by as many as seven.

The Wizards shot better than 59 percent in the second, going up by 10 after a 13-2 run led by Wall and Kris Humphries. The lead ballooned to 11 before halftime but was just five at the break.

Game Notes

The Wizards were again without Bradley Beal, who has missed five consecutive games with a leg injury ... Tayshaun Prince hasn't played since returning to the Pistons via a trade on Thursday with the Boston Celtics ... Washington beat Detroit 107-103 at home on Nov. 12. The teams will meet again in Washington on Saturday ... The Wizards host NBA-leading Golden State on Tuesday ... The Pistons host Cleveland on Tuesday.
