Spurs continue home dominance over Warriors

Apr 6, 2015 - 3:48 AM San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - It does not matter if the Golden State Warriors have the best record in the NBA, or if they are in the midst of another lengthy winning streak.

They simply can not beat the San Antonio Spurs in the Alamo City.

Kawhi Leonard scored 26 points with a career-high seven steals to lead the Spurs to their 32nd straight home win over the Warriors in a 107-92 rout on Sunday night.

Tim Duncan supplied 19 points with seven rebounds and Danny Green converted four 3-pointers en route to an 18-point outing.

"Defensively, I think we're more locked in," Green said. "Communicating better (and) it's leading to our offense."

San Antonio, which became the only team to defeat the Warriors twice this season, has won seven straight and 17 of its last 20 games.

Stephen Curry posted 24 points and six assists as the lone bright spot for Golden State, which had its 12-game winning streak snapped.

"We made a couple of mini runs but couldn't get over the hump and make enough stops," said Curry.

San Antonio started rolling out of the gate, as Leonard's dunk off a feed from Green made it 8-1. Green fired in a 3-pointer late in the quarter to stretch the margin to 18, and the Spurs held Golden State to 28.6 percent shooting in the first quarter to take a 31-17 lead into the second.

The spread reached 20 before the midway point of the second courtesy of a 7-0 spurt that Cory Joseph capped with a jumper for a 43-23 lead. San Antonio led by as many as 23 in the second and held a 57-38 lead at halftime.

Curry did all he could to keep the Warriors remotely close in the third. After Leonard's jumper stretched San Antonio's lead to 63-40, Curry scored Golden State's next 13 points, but the deficit remained in double digits. His 3- pointer with over eight minutes left trimmed the margin to 67-53, then the Spurs followed with six straight points.

San Antonio led 89-67 after three quarters and coasted to the win in the fourth.

Golden State has not won in San Antonio since the 1996-97 season ... Warriors guard Shaun Livingston was suspended for the game after hitting Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki in the groin during Saturday's win over the Mavericks ... Spurs forward Tiago Splitter missed the contest due to a calf injury ... San Antonio made 53 percent of its shots ... Leonard's scoring output tied a regular season career high.
