Warriors down Timberwolves
Apr 12, 2015 - 5:43 AM Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Stephen Curry had 34 points, seven assists and four steals as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-101 on Saturday night.Klay Thompson netted 23 points, Draymond Green supplied 13 points and 14 rebounds and Harrison Barnes provided 13 points and 12 boards for the Warriors, who have won two straight on the heels of their brief two-game slide.
"When there's really not a lot on the line, human nature is to take a step back," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "When the playoffs come our edge will be back."
Zach LaVine scored a career-high 37 points to go with nine boards for Minnesota, which has dropped 10 in a row.
"It was nice to see our guys keep on competing," Minnesota coach Flip Saunders said.
The Warriors led by just five at the break, 60-55, but began to pull away in the third after outscoring the Wolves 26-14.
A 7-0 spurt helped them create some distance. Barnes recorded a pair of baskets to start the swing, Curry split two free throws and Festus Ezeli sunk two from the foul line to cap it and stake Golden State to a 76-63 cushion.
Curry's step-back triple at the horn extended the Warriors' margin to 86-69 heading into the fourth.
LaVine knocked down consecutive 3s and scored 10 points during a 17-5 Minnesota run to start the final frame, including a layup to finish it and claw the Wolves within 91-86 midway through the period.
Minnesota was down 99-95 following a Chase Budinger layup with 2:45 to go, but Thompson nailed a triple and Curry's three-point play upped the advantage back to 105-95.
Golden State, which trailed 31-28 following a quarter of play, coasted to the win from there.
