Gasol, Conley lead Grizzlies over Lakers

Nov 27, 2014 - 6:44 AM Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marc Gasol had 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 99-93, on Wednesday night.

Mike Conley posted 19 points and seven assists for the Grizzlies, who have won seven of their last eight games.

"In the second half we got more physical and we got more stops. We got into the paint more," Gasol said.

Kobe Bryant netted 22 points for Los Angeles, which has dropped three in a row and seven of its last nine games.

"They're one of the best defensive clubs in the league," Lakers coach Byron Scott said. "We have to get better on the defensive end."

Nick Young was fouled on a 3-pointer with the Lakers trailing 95-89 and sunk all three shots to pull LA within three with 2:15 left.

Gasol nailed a jumper at the other end before Jeremy Lin split a pair of bonus shots for a 97-93 Grizzlies advantage.

Bryant missed a triple and Quincy Pondexter misfired from deep for Memphis. Lin, though, was called for a loose ball foul with 48.9 seconds remaining.

Gasol was off the mark on another jumper, but then stole an errant pass from Bryant and two Conley foul shots with 12.4 ticks to go sealed the outcome.

The Lakers led 26-21 following a quarter of play and 47-42 heading into the break.

Memphis outscored LA 34-23 in the third and headed into the fourth with an 80-74 cushion.
