Jazz top Heat despite Wade's 42

Dec 18, 2014 - 6:41 AM Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Gordon Hayward tallied 29 points, seven assists and six rebounds as the Utah Jazz went into AmericanAirlines Arena and topped the short-handed Miami Heat, 105-87, to snap a six-game road losing skid.

Enes Kanter scored 18 points and Dante Exum gave 10 off the bench for Utah, which shot 14-for-25 from 3-point range.

Exum, the fifth pick in the 2014 draft, was coming off a career-high 12 points in a loss to New Orleans on Tuesday. The Australian rookie has reached double figures in back-to-back games for the first time this season.

"Quin (Snyder) has been good to me and he's given me a solid chance," said Exum. "I've just got to take the opportunity, come in and be aggressive."

Despite the loss, Dwyane Wade put on a show and deposited a game- and season- high 42 points for the Heat, who were again without star big man Chris Bosh. Bosh missed his third straight game with a calf strain.

"You want to win games like that so you can feel good about yourself," Wade said. "It's hard when you lose, even when you have a good individual performance."

Miami, which opened a seven-game homestand, fell to 4-8 at home this season.

Hayward scored 13 points in a first quarter that was dominated by the visitors. The Jazz shot 13-for-20, made four of their five shots from behind the arc and led 33-16 after one.

Exum's 3 early in the second made it 38-20 and forced Miami into a timeout.

The Heat won the second quarter, 25-22, but still trailed 55-41 at halftime.

Wade did all he could to keep the Heat close. His three-point play five minutes into the second half had Miami within seven points, but Kanter drained a corner 3 at the other end, then finished a spinning layup to push the margin back to 12.

Joe Ingles fed a cutting Exum for a layup that started a 5-0 run to close out the quarter for Utah, which was up 77-59 after three and led by at least 10 the rest of the way.

Wade scored 15 of Miami's 28 fourth-quarter points.
