Anthony, Knicks drop winless Sixers

Nov 23, 2014 - 7:24 AM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia 76ers provided the band aid that the New York Knicks needed on Saturday night.

Carmelo Anthony had 25 points and seven rebounds as the Knicks temporarily stopped the bleeding following a 91-83 win over the winless 76ers.

Philadelphia was the only team in the NBA heading in with fewer wins than the Knicks, who had dropped nine of their last 10 coming in.

Amare Stoudemire added 16 points and 11 boards for New York, which improved to 4-10 on the year.

"He's just doing whatever he can do to help the team," Knicks coach Derek Fisher said of Stoudemire.

Nerlens Noel posted 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Sixers, who are 0-13 on the season. They are five losses away from matching the NBA record for the worst start to a season, which was set by the Nets in 2009-10.

"It's a learning process, but we're getting better," Noel said.

The Knicks held a 46-41 third quarter advantage before seizing control with a 19-4 run.

Quincy Acy put in eight points during the surge, which was capped by a Pablo Prigioni triple for a healthy 65-45 New York spread late in the third.

The Knicks took a 71-54 lead into the fourth, where they cruised to the easy win.

Anthony netted nine quick points as the Knicks raced out to a 21-8 start and they led 25-13 following a quarter of play before heading into the break with a 46-39 cushion.
