Harris, Magic beat Suns to snap skid
Dec 1, 2014 - 6:07 AM Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Tobias Harris scored 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Orlando Magic to a 93-90 win over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.Nikola Vucevic tallied 18 points with eight boards and Evan Fournier chipped in 15 points for the Magic, who snapped a four-game losing streak.
"I told the guys afterward that as a group, they decided the results of that game," said Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn. "Very good effort for us."
Goran Dragic led the Suns with 22 points and Markieff Morris supplied 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in the loss.
"Orlando played hard for 48 minutes, you have to give them credit," said Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek. "
Phoenix has lost two straight and three of its last four.
Orlando shot 20-of-41 in the first half and scored 18 points off 13 turnovers to take a 52-39 lead at the break.
Harris extended the lead with a jumper to open the third, but Phoenix countered with a 10-0 run as Morris and Miles Plumlee each scored four points to help the Suns close to within five.
Orlando pushed the margin to 69-58 entering the fourth.
The Magic had a game-high 16-point lead early in the fourth. P.J. Tucker converted a layup with 6:42 remaining to jumpstart an 18-6 run that cut the deficit to 83-80.
Vucevic answered with a layup and Harris knocked down a technical free throw with under a minute to play to make it an 86-80 game.
Orlando split two sets of free throws in the closing moments and Gerald Green's 3-pointer with 2.9 seconds cut the margin to 91-90, but Fournier hit a pair of free throws and the Suns couldn't get a shot off as time expired.
The Magic led 27-23 after 12 minutes, then Anthony Tolliver's 3-pointer with 7 1/2 to play in the second tied the game at 34-34.
Green followed with a highlight-reel play, as he dribbled to the foul line, tossed the ball over Vucevic, off the backboard and finished the play with a dunk.
Orlando used a 14-2 run following Green's dunk to grab a comfortable lead at the half.
