Lowry, Raptors win in Sacramento

Dec 3, 2014 - 7:57 AM Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Lowry scored 27 points, handed out 13 assists and made a critical 20-footer down the stretch to lead the Toronto Raptors past the Kings, 117-109, in a rare road win at Sacramento.

The Raptors had dropped 14 of their previous 15 trips to Sacramento but used six double-digit scorers to rebound from a head-scratching overtime loss to the Lakers on Sunday.

"I think we go out here and try to do our job, winning as many games as possible," said Lowry.

Terrence Ross netted 20 points, James Johnson added 19, and Jonas Valanciunas went for 15 for Toronto, which saw former teammate Rudy Gay hand out a career- best 10 assists to go with 20 points and six rebounds.

Ben McLemore donated 21 points and Derrick Williams had 18 for the Kings, who have dropped four in a row -- the last three with star forward DeMarcus Cousins sidelined because of a virus.

"DeMarcus is the anchor of our defense and he's a central figure for our defense," said Kings coach Michael Malone.

Ross' third 3-pointer of the first quarter staked the Raptors to a healthy 21-6 cushion just 6:25 into the game.

Toronto took a 31-22 lead into the second, but Sacramento made a push and went ahead, 45-44, following an Omri Casspi free throw with 4:29 left in the half.

That wound up being the only time the Kings led.

The Raptors were on top, 57-55, at the break, and Johnson's 3-pointer and pullup jumper extended Toronto's lead to 86-72 late in the third period.

Williams' emphatic putback slam had Sacramento within 103-99 midway through the fourth, and it was still a four-point game, 111-107, coming down the stretch.

Lowry canned a deep jumper inside the final minute to make it a six-point game, and Gay missed a runner at the other end that all but ended the Kings' comeback.

Game Notes

Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan missed a second straight game due to a groin injury ... Greivis Vasquez and Patrick Patterson scored 12 points apiece to round out Toronto's double-digit scorers ... Toronto outscored the Kings at the 3-point line, 30-9.
