Kings get rare win over Grizzlies

DeMarcus Cousins, who battled foul trouble throughout the game, scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out six assists as the Kings snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Grizzlies.
Ben McLemore also scored 16 points, while Ray McCallum and Jason Thompson each notched 10 points in the win.
"Rudy Gay was very good with his shots," said Kings coach George Karl. "Memphis does this to everybody, and they usually win. It had a physicality to it like a playoff game. Our guys stood up to it and played at an extremely high level."
Zach Randolph paced Memphis with 20 points and Marc Gasol customarily filled the stat sheet, recording 14 points with seven rebounds and six assists.
"I thought we were lackadaisical as a team," Grizzlies forward Tony Allen said.
Sacramento led by as many as 16 in the first half, but Randolph cut the deficit to 62-52 at the break by banking in a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from the Grizzlies' own end.
Memphis then used that as momentum to get back into the game early in the third, holding the Kings scoreless for the first 4:39 of the quarter. Randolph scored six points during a 13-2 run that gave the visitors a 65-64 lead just before the midway point of the third.
Both teams traded baskets the rest of the way, with the Grizzlies taking a 77-76 lead into the fourth.
Sacramento flipped the script in the final quarter by keeping Memphis off the board for the first four-plus minutes. Meanwhile, Cousins scored the first seven points of the fourth as part of 10-0 run.
The Grizzlies cut the deficit to five on a couple of occasions minutes later, but Gay dropped in a pair of jumpers around a 3-pointer that started an 11-2 run. Cousins capped the spurt with a layup that made it 99-85 with over two minutes on the clock and the Kings ended their lengthy losing streak to Memphis.
Sacramento went up 32-25 after a quarter of play, then led by double digits for most of the second, with McLemore's dunk gave the Kings a 61-45 lead with just over a minute left.

Memphis closed out its four-game road trip with a 2-2 record ... The Kings also snapped a five-game home losing skid to the Grizzlies ... Thompson and Reggie Evans each pulled down 11 rebounds in the win ... Sacramento shot 48.8 percent from the floor, limiting Memphis to 40.5 percent shooting ... The Grizzlies backcourt of Mike Conley and Courtney Lee combined to score 21 points on 8-of-25 shooting.
