Jazz top Kings
Apr 9, 2015 - 3:45 AM Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert registered double-doubles for Utah as the Jazz defeated the Sacramento Kings, 103-91, at EnergySolutions Arena.Favors posted 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Gobert tallied 12 points and 10 boards. Rodney Hood led Utah in the scoring column with 20 points, which he accompanied with eight rebounds. The Jazz have now won five of their last six games.
The Kings were without DeMarcus Cousins (sore right foot) and Rudy Gay (concussion). Carl Landry, Omri Casspi and Ben McLemore provided 16 points apiece in the loss.
Utah began its dominance of the second half with a 7-of-10 performance from beyond the arc in the third quarter. The Kings went into the final frame trailing, 75-73, despite hitting on 9-of-16 field goal attempts in the third quarter.
The Jazz broke a 78-78 tie with a 15-0 run in the fourth frame, as they held Sacramento scoreless for 4:26 to take control of the contest. Kings coach George Karl was forced to use two timeouts before McLemore ended the cold spell with a jumper.
Landry netted 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field for the visitors in the opening period. Burke ended a 6-0 run by the Kings as he connected on a 55-foot heave to end the first quarter, but Sacramento led 22-21 after 12 minutes of play.
Sacramento extended its lead to as many as nine in the second period before taking a 49-43 lead into the intermission. Casspi accounted for 12 of the Kings' 27 points in the second quarter.
Utah finished with a 47-31 advantage in total rebounds and outscored the visitors, 39-21, from behind the 3-point line.
