Gobert's big night lifts Jazz over Grizzlies

Mar 4, 2015 - 8:08 AM Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Rudy Gobert scored 15 points and set a career high with 24 rebounds as the Utah Jazz defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 93-82 on Tuesday.

Gobert pulled down 18 defensive rebounds in Utah's third straight win -- the first time it has done so this season.

"I think everybody played great defense," Gobert said. "We did a good job communicating."

Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors each scored 21 points and Rodney Hood added 13 points off the bench in the win.

Courtney Lee led Memphis with 18 points, Marc Gasol had 17 points with eight rebounds and Jordan Adams set a career high with 13 points.

"Tough night for us," said Grizzlies coach David Joerger. "We had a couple of defensive breakdowns in the second half."

Memphis entered halftime with a 38-37 lead, then Hayward scored Utah's first six points of the second half to help it go up 43-40. A Hayward free throw with 5:16 remaining pushed the Jazz lead to 55-47, but the Grizzlies managed to close within three at the end of three quarters.

Utah put the game away with an 11-1 run midway through the fourth. Gobert scored the final four points of the spurt that put the Jazz up 85-71.

Memphis limited Utah to 6-of-23 shooting in the first quarter, but only led 20-19 after 12 minutes.

Hayward's jumper moved the Jazz ahead 37-34 with under a minute left in the second, but Gasol followed with a pair of free throws before Jeff Green's layup gave the hosts a three-point edge at the break.
