Clippers try to solve Spurs in Alamo City
Nov 10, 2010 - 4:08 PM (Sports Network) - The lowly Los Angeles Clippers hope to salvage the final contest on a four-game road trip by snapping a 17-game losing streak to the San Antonio Spurs tonight. The Clippers, who haven't topped the Spurs since March 7, 2006, fell to 0-3 on their trek in New Orleans on Tuesday when reserves Willie Green and Jerryd Bayless powered a balanced Hornets attack, scoring 19 and 15 points, respectively, to help undefeated New Orleans extend its franchise-record start with a 101-82 romp over Los Angeles.
New Orleans has won 14 straight against Los Angeles dating back to January 8, 2007.
Al-Farouq Aminu came off the bench for the injury-riddled Clippers and finished with team-highs of 20 points and eight rebounds.
Baron Davis returned from a knee injury that caused him to miss four games, but fellow guard Eric Gordon sat out with a shoulder injury suffered in Utah on Saturday. Center Chris Kaman went down with an ankle sprain in LA's seventh loss in eight games to start the season.
"You just deal with [injuries] and just keep moving forward and try to help these young guys get better," Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro said. "Hopefully, the tide will turn eventually when we get healthy and we can get our feet under us a little bit. "
Gordon and Kaman are both listed as questionable for tonight as LA attempts to snap an eight-game skid on the road that dates back to last season.
The Spurs, meanwhile, earned their fourth straight win in Charlotte on Monday when Manu Ginobili finished with a game-high 26 points and Gary Neal sank five three-pointers to lead San Antonio to a 95-91 victory over the Bobcats.
Tim Duncan added 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Tony Parker finished with 12 points and eight assists to lead the Spurs, who improved to 5-1 overall.
San Antonio has also topped the Clips 15 straight times at home and are 45-4 against the moribund franchise over the past 13 years.
"We can't give up games," Parker told the Spurs' website when asked about the team's dominance over the Clippers. "We have to do the same things we've been doing and don't give them hope."
