Sixers close out trek at Cleveland

Nov 16, 2010 - 4:11 PM (Sports Network) - The struggling Philadelphia 76ers hope to close out a five- game road trip in positive fashion when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers Tuesday night at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Sixers fell to 1-3 on the trek and a miserable 2-8 overall on Saturday when Tony Parker registered 24 points and seven assists on 10-of-13 shooting, as the San Antonio Spurs continued their home domination of the Philadelphia 76ers with a 116-93 rout.

Jrue Holiday had 16 and five assists to pace the 76ers, who have lost three straight overall and seven consecutive to the Spurs in the Alamo City. The dominance extends much further than that, however, as the Spurs have won 23 of the last 24 meetings in San Antonio.

Lou Williams added 13 points off the bench, while Marreese Speights had 11 points and seven rebounds. Andre Iguodala and Thaddeus Young each chipped in 10.

"They hit us early taking it to the basket. Parker and [Manu] Ginobili were wreaking havoc, not just on our guards," Sixers forward Elton Brand said. "It's a team effort. If the guards can't stop them, our big guys have got to step up and stop them, make them do something else. They were just in that paint scoring."

The Cavs, meanwhile, will be attempting to salvage the finale of a three-game homestand tonight.

Cleveland dropped its second straight on the residency Saturday when Danny Granger scored 34 points on 13-of-21 shooting, as the Indiana Pacers notched a 99-85 win over the Cavaliers.

Antawn Jamison scored 19 to lead Cleveland, which has lost two straight after a three-game win streak. Ramon Sessions added 17 points, while Daniel Gibson and J.J. Hickson recorded 15 and 12 points, respectively, in defeat.

"I just thought we stopped playing," said Cavs head coach Byron Scott. "That's two straight second halves -- the third quarter has been an issue all season long. We have to figure out what's going on the second half. We have to come out with a lot more energy than we did tonight."

A pair of key Cavs players are questionable for tonight, big man Anderson Varejao, who went 10-for-10 from the floor the last time he faced Philly, is questionable with a bruised right rib cage while Mo Williams is struggling with a strained left groin.

Cleveland has dominated the Sixers recently winning four straight and nine of the last 10 in the series. Much of that damage was done thanks to the presence of superstar LeBron James, who is now with the Miami Heat. But, the Cavs did top Philadelphia without LeBron back on Nov. 5, a 123-116 triumph in the City of Brotherly Love.
