Knicks outlast Warriors

Nov 20, 2010 - 8:39 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Raymond Felton had a career-high 35 points and 11 assists to lift the New York Knicks over the Golden State Warriors, 125-119, at Oracle Arena.

Danilo Gallinari had 23 points, including three treys down the stretch to help New York, which has won two straight after breaking a six-game skid with Wednesday's victory over Sacramento. Amare Stoudemire chipped in 26 points and 11 boards in the victory.

"We're a very young team, so it's going to take time for us to learn how to win down the stretch," Stoudemire said. "As we learn the offense, as we get used to each other and chemistry starts to develop, we have to find out a way to pull out these type of wins. Tonight was a great effort for us."

Monta Ellis dropped a game-high 40 points for Golden State, which was coming off a 101-97 win over Detroit on Monday but now has dropped three of its last four. Stephen Curry had 29 points and shot 3-for-6 from the three-point line in defeat.

"He's trying to have great games," Golden State head coach Keith Smart said of Ellis, "and we've got to get somebody at that level, in that category."

Golden State closed the gap to within 104-102 when Reggie Williams hit back- to-back free throws, but Gallinari made 11 points during the next three minutes to put the Knicks up 119-112.

Felton hit a layup and three free throws to seal the win for New York in the final 1:04.

The first quarter was tightly matched and had four ties and five different lead changes. The two teams ended the quarter knotted up at 31.

The Knicks went on a 18-5 run to give them their biggest lead of the game of 16 when Felton hit a long fade away bank shot 2:35 left to play in the half. New York took a 72-59 lead into the locker room.

During the third quarter, Stoudemire made it a 78-61 game with 10:23 left to play after receiving a pass from Gallinari and finished with a dunk. New York kept its distance for the remainder of the quarter and went into the final period up 98-84.
