Surging Knicks shoot for home-and-home sweep of Bobcats in Charlotte

Nov 24, 2010 - 3:42 PM (Sports Network) - The surging New York Knicks hope to extend their season high winning streak to five games when they close out a home-and-home series against the Charlotte Bobcats down south.

New York registered its fourth straight win with Tuesday's 110-107 triumph versus the Bobcats at Madison Square Garden, as Toney Douglas poured in 22 points off the bench and all five starters scored in double figures.

Amare Stoudemire scored 17 points and Raymond Felton contributed 16 and nine assists against his former team for the Knicks, who held off a late Charlotte surge to win for the fourth straight time since a six-game slide. The Knicks haven't won five straight since the 2005-06 campaign.

"We kind of figured they would go on a run," Stoudemire said. "We showed some resilience in the fourth quarter to maintain the lead and win the game."

Danilo Gallinari and Ronny Turiaf had 15 and 12 points, respectively, for New York. The Knicks shot 52.1 percent and managed to win despite committing 20 turnovers. Charlotte had 18 in defeat.

The Knicks are 5-4 away from home this season.

Meanwhile, the Bobcats are home for back-to-back games and own a 2-4 mark at Time Warner Cable Arena this season.

Charlotte has alternated wins and losses over its last six games. In last night's loss in the Big Apple, D.J. Augustin scored a game-high 24 points, handed out seven assists and grabbed five boards. Gerald Wallace contributed 20 points for the Bobcats, who got 18 points from Stephen Jackson.

"I was pleased the way we got back in the game," Charlotte head coach Larry Brown said. "We had some pretty bad possessions late, which, if you get behind you have to play perfectly at the end. The effort was great, they competed, I'm excited about it but we had some unforced turnovers and we missed some point blank shots that we needed."

The Bobcats will also host Houston on the residency.

New York has won three straight over the Bobcats after losing the previous four encounters. It is winless in the past three as the guest in this series.
