Knicks entertain Hawks at MSG

Nov 27, 2010 - 3:49 PM (Sports Network) - The red-hot New York Knicks shoot for their sixth straight win this afternoon when they welcome the Atlanta Hawks to Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks stayed hot on Wednesday when Raymond Felton scored 23 points and dished out 13 assists in his return to Charlotte, as New York toppled the Bobcats, 99-95, at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Felton, of course, spent the first five years of his career with the Bobcats before signing with the Knicks as a free agent in the offseason.

Wilson Chandler finished with 21 points and eight rebounds in Charlotte and Amare Stoudemire supplied 20 points for the Knicks, who are in the midst of their longest winning streak since a six-game run in January of 2006.

"The good news is we have a five-game winning streak, the bad news is we're .500," Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said. "Let's be real and try to get the one on Saturday (vs. Atlanta)."

In injury news for the Knicks, center Ronny Turiaf is probable for tonight's game with a sore knee.

The Hawks, meanwhile, snapped a three-game skid on Thursday when Joe Johnson scored 21 points, dished out five assists and pulled down five rebounds, as Atlanta cruised past the Washington Wizards, 116-96, at Philips Arena.

Josh Smith posted a double-double with 20 points and a game-high 14 rebounds for the Hawks. Al Horford totaled 15 points and 13 boards for Atlanta, which has won 11 straight against the Wizards.

"We were able to bring the energy and the effort tonight," Smith said.

New York has won three straight over Atlanta and five of the past six in the series.

The Hawks have dropped 16 of 20 visits to the Big Apple.
