Bulls conclude lengthy trek against Kings
Nov 27, 2010 - 3:54 PM (Sports Network) - The Chicago Bulls will put the finishing touches on their grueling seven-game circus road trip with a matchup against the Sacramento Kings tonight from ARCO Arena. The Bulls have alternated wins and losses on the trek and are coming off Friday's 98-97 loss to the Denver Nuggets in which Carmelo Anthony made a jumper as time expired to send the Rocky Mountain faithful into a frenzy. Anthony ended with 22 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
C.J. Watson poured in a season-high 33 points for the Bulls, who fell to 3-3 on the trek. Luol Deng added 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Joakim Noah tallied 17 points and 16 boards in defeat.
"Luol played some good D at the end," Anthony said of Chicago's big man. "I've got to take my hat off to him. But once I got a good look at the rim and just a little bit of space, I just raised up and shot."
A triumph tonight will give the Bulls a winning record on their circus trip, named for the fact that the circus takes over the United Center every year in mid-November, for the first time since 1997-98, Michael Jordan's last season with the team.
Chicago is 3-5 away from the Windy City this season and will return to the United Center on Dec. 1 versus Orlando. Bulls All-Star guard Derrick Rose did not play Friday because of neck spasms and is questionable for this evening. Rose is averaging a team-best 26.3 points this season.
Sacramento, meanwhile, will play consecutive home games versus Chicago and Indiana and is 2-6 in California's capital this season.
The Kings have lost three in a row and suffered a 100-82 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday. Carl Landry paced Sacramento with 18 points, while Luther Head added 15. Tyreke Evans shot just 2-of-13 from the floor and finished with eight points in a losing cause.
"That was a big step backwards, especially in the third quarter," said Kings head coach Paul Westphal. "They hurt us with their penetration. We stopped moving the ball and the momentum shifted."
Sacramento was outscored, 30-19, in the third stanza.
The Bulls and Kings split a home-and-home series a year ago, with each team holding serve as the visitor. Sacramento has won 17 of the past 22 meetings in the series with Chicago, which has won two straight at ARCO Arena after dropping the previous nine visits there.
