Wizards aim for first road win in Toronto
Dec 1, 2010 - 4:06 PM (Sports Network) - A pair of teams trying to get back into the win column clash tonight at Air Canada Centre, where the Toronto Raptors will play host to the Washington Wizards. The Wizards are still searching for their first road win of the season and fell to 0-8 as the guest after Monday's 105-94 loss in Miami.
Andray Blatche led Washington with 26 points and nine rebounds, while Gilbert Arenas added 23 points and seven assists for the Wizards, who tied their worst road start (0-8) since 2006-07.
Nick Young added 13 points off the bench and JaVale McGee finished with the game's only double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in defeat.
"We had a couple of dry spells," Wizards coach Flip Saunders said. "I think that we played a 48 minute game, but we played about seven minutes of bad basketball where we couldn't score. They scored and they got a cushion off of it and play off of it."
Washington No. 1 overall pick John Wall missed his second straight game with a bruised knee and is questionable for tonight. The guard is averaging 18.0 points and 9.1 assists this season. Forward Al Thornton (ankle) could miss his fourth straight contest for the Wizards.
Toronto will continue a four-game homestand Wednesday and dropped its second in a row with Sunday's 96-78 setback versus Atlanta in the opener of the residency.
Andrea Bargnani ended with 14 points and seven boards for the Raptors, who had won four in a row before losing back-to-back games. DeMar DeRozan ended with 13 points in defeat.
"Nobody could score and we couldn't stop those guys," Raptors head coach Jay Triano said.
The Raptors will also host Oklahoma City and New York up north, and are 4-4 at home this season. Forward Peja Stojakovic is questionable for Wednesday's game with a swollen left knee.
Washington defeated Toronto, 109-94, on November 16 this season in DC. These two clubs have split the last 12 meetings in Canada.
