Heat welcome Pistons to South Beach
Dec 1, 2010 - 4:06 PM (Sports Network) - The Miami Heat shoot for their third straight win at home tonight, as they entertain the Detroit Pistons at AmericanAirlines Arena.Miami has won two of three overall since a three-game skid and is dealing with reported turmoil among the players and coaches. Head coach Erik Spoelstra met with his superstar LeBron James this week to discuss the team's offensive woes and hopefully has cleared the air.
James scored a game-high 30 points in the Heat's 105-94 home win over Washington and Dwyane Wade added 26 points and eight rebounds in the win.
"The story line was that we came in with a much better focused energy and was able to sustain it all the way through," said Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra. "There were some ebb and flows of the game. We didn't play sharp all the time offensively.
"The ball was moving and the most important thing was just our effort and energy on the defensive end. [We were] extremely active."
Chris Bosh delivered 20 points and seven boards to lift Miami's home record to 8-3 on the season.
Detroit looks to put the brakes on a four-game road losing streak tonight and suffered a 90-79 loss in Orlando last night.
Tayshaun Prince scored 16 points and Rodney Stuckey finished with 14 for the Pistons, who have dropped six of their last eight games and fell to 2-8 away from The Palace this season.
"We just have to learn how to close out games," said Detroit forward Charlie Villanueva, who had 12 points and five boards in relief. "I think we played well for three quarters but when it came down the stretch in the last five or six minutes, they made their run and we didn't' have an answer for them."
Miami took two of three matchups from Detroit a season ago and has won five of the past six meetings between the teams.
