Tuning up: Jazz put streak on line vs. Pacers
Dec 1, 2010 - 4:14 PM (Sports Network) - The streaking Utah Jazz shoot for their seventh consecutive win tonight when they resume a lengthy six-game homestand against the improved Indiana Pacers. The Jazz won the opener of their residency on Monday when Deron Williams and Al Jefferson both finished with 22 points as Utah easily topped the Milwaukee Bucks, 109-88.
Jefferson added 11 rebounds and Williams dished out 10 assists for the Jazz, who lead the Northwest Division. Andrei Kirilenko scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Earl Watson added 12 points off the bench in the win.
"We needed a spark (tonight), and we started to play more aggressive defense and it paid off," Kirilenko said. "As a team we started helping each other and when the defense goes good then the offense seems to play better. We have to show up every night and hopefully our fans will (continue) to help us."
Utah, which is 7-3 at EnergySolutions Arena, will also face Dallas, Memphis, Miami and Orlando on its current homestand.
The Pacers, meanwhile, won their fourth consecutive road game on Tuesday in Sacramento when Danny Granger poured in a season-high 37 points and added seven rebounds, while Darren Collison supplied 17 points and six assists as Indiana downed the Kings, 107-98 at ARCO Arena.
Roy Hibbert provided 16 points, eight boards and four assists for the Pacers, who have won the first two games on a four-game western road trip to improve to 5-2 away from home overall. Last season Indiana was just 1-14 on the road against the West.
"This has been three years of hard work," Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said. "This [improvement] didn't just all of a sudden happen."
Indiana, which snapped a four-game skid to Utah with a 122-106 win in Conseco Fieldhouse in March, will finish its trip with a visit to Phoenix on Friday.
