Timberwolves land in Texas to take on Mavs
Dec 1, 2010 - 4:15 PM (Sports Network) - The reeling Minnesota Timberwolves will open up a tough two-game tour of Texas tonight when they visit Big D to take on a red-hot Dallas Mavericks club. The Timberwolves dropped their fourth straight game on Saturday when Dorell Wright scored a career-high 30 points and set a franchise record with nine three-pointers as Golden State topped Minnesota, 104-94, at the Target Center.
Michael Beasley led the Timberwolves with 28 points and Kevin Love filled the stat sheet with 21 points and 22 rebounds for Minnesota, which has dropped six of seven overall.
Luke Ridnour added 16 points and Darko Milicic contributed nine points and seven rebounds in defeat.
"[Golden State] shot really well," said Minnesota forward Anthony Tolliver. "That's the danger in playing a team like that. They moved the ball around really well and they made the shots they needed. We just have to be better at making adjustments individually and as a team."
The Wolves, who are just 1-8 on the road, will also face the 15-2 Spurs in San Antonio on Friday.
The Mavs, who will be finishing a three-game homestand tonight, won their sixth consecutive contest on Monday when Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 20 points and Caron Butler had 19 as Dallas topped Houston, 101-91.
Shawn Marion added 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Mavericks won for the 10th time in their last 12. Nowitzki also had 10 rebounds in the win and Jason Kidd scored eight points with 11 assists.
"Everybody is coming into their own a little bit right now and we're really supporting each other and we're holding each other accountable when we need to," Marion said of his team's chemistry. "We're playing as a complete team right now and we're competing at a high level."
Dallas has dominated the series recently, winning two straight and 15 of the last 16 contests with the lone Minnesota win in that span coming back in February of last season, a 117-108 triumph in Big D.
