Streaking Knicks face big test in New Orleans

Dec 3, 2010 - 3:47 PM (Sports Network) - The New York Knicks will hit the road for two straight games starting with tonight's affair in New Orleans.

The Knicks will also visit Toronto and have won five straight on the road to push their away mark to 7-4 this season.

New York has won two straight overall and seven of eight games, including Tuesday's 111-100 home victory over rival New Jersey at Madison Square Garden. Amare Stoudemire ended with 35 points and nine rebounds, while Wilson Chandler tied a season-high with 27 points and pulled down 11 boards for the Knicks, who got 21 points and 10 assists from Raymond Felton.

"Any kind of step forward, we'll take," Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni said. "We're 10-9. That's reality. We are playing better and we all know we could be better."

D'Antoni's squad made 51/3 percent of its shots and had a 42-37 edge on the glass. The Knicks haven't won six straight games as the guest since capturing seven in a row during the 1994-95 campaign.

New Orleans, meanwhile, ended a two-game slide with Wednesday's 89-73 victory versus Charlotte, as David West scored a game-high 22 points Emeka Okafor contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds against his former club.

"The past couple of games we thought that we should've (won), but we just didn't earn it in that fourth quarter," said Okafor, who was Charlotte's first-ever draft pick in 2004 . "We learned from our mistakes and turned it up."

Trevor Ariza and Willie Green each netted 10 points for the Hornets, who won for the second time in six tries. Chris Paul finished with nine points and 14 assists for the Hornets, who improved to 8-1 at home.

New York won both meetings with the Hornets a year ago and is unbeaten in the past four matchups between the clubs. The Knicks, however, have dropped six of the last 10 games as the visitor in this series.
