Warriors kick off tough road trip in Okie City
Dec 5, 2010 - 3:49 PM (Sports Network) - The reeling Golden State Warriors kick off a very difficult three-game road trip tonight against an Oklahoma City team that may have superstar Kevin Durant back in the lineup.The Thunder lost the back end of a brief two-game road trip in Toronto on Friday when the Raptors accomplished what three other teams this season couldn't, beat Oklahoma City without Durant. Andrea Bargnani scored 26 points, including 15 in the second half, and Toronto rallied for a 111-99 victory over the Thunder in that one.
Durant, the reigning NBA scoring champ, was sidelined for the second straight game with a sprained left knee.
Russell Westbrook and James Harden both scored 20 points against the Raptors and Oklahoma City lost for only the third time in 11 games.
"We got beat by a good team tonight," said Thunder head coach Scott Brooks. "We struggled defensively and got worn out."
Brooks also said Durant, who is listed as day-to-day, could return Sunday.
"Hopefully he gets better quickly and comes back Sunday," Brooks said. "We'll see how he feels and evaluate him before the game."
Oklahoma City fell to 3-1 this season without Durant, having previously beaten Boston, Milwaukee and New Jersey without him.
The Warriors, who will also face 16-4 Dallas and 16-3 San Antonio on their trek, lost for the seventh time in eight games on Thursday when Jason Richardson scored 25 points and Grant Hill added 24 to lead the Phoenix Suns past Golden State, 107-101, in a battle of Pacific Division clubs.
Monta Ellis netted a game-high 38 points to go with seven assists, and David Lee contributed 25 points and eight boards for the Warriors. Sharp-shooting guard Stephen Curry was limited to nine points after getting poked in the eye in the first half.
"That slowed me down," Curry said. "I was initiating the offense well and getting people involved. It just took me a while to get back."
Golden State has lost its last three trips to Oklahoma City.
