Miller, Portland steal win over Clippers
Dec 6, 2010 - 8:17 AM Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Andre Miller had two key steals during the final 36 seconds, sealing a 100-91 Portland victory over the Los Angeles Clippers at the Rose Garden.Miller finished with five steals in the game and recorded 13 points and six assists for Portland, which ended a six-game losing streak.
Wesley Matthews had a game-high 26 points, while Marcus Camby had a double- double of 12 points and a season-high 19 rebounds in the win. Brandon Roy chipped in with 14 points.
It was Portland's first victory since November 18 against Denver.
"We got the monkey off our back," said Blazers center Joel Przybilla.
Eric Gordon posted 24 points for the Clippers, who dropped their second game in a row. Blake Griffin notched 21 points and 15 boards, while Baron Davis recorded 14 points and eight assists in the loss.
Miller stripped the ball from Ryan Gomes with 35.8 seconds and then made two free throws to give the Blazers a 96-91 lead. During the next defensive stand, Miller intercepted a Gordon pass and Nicolas Batum nailed two free throws to sew up the win.
Earlier in the quarter, Portland had an 82-69 lead after Miller hit a technical free throw. The shot was the result of Craig Smith's second technical. He was ejected when Camby had to restrain him from attacking Rudy Fernandez after a hard foul.
Smith received his first technical with seconds remaining in the third quarter during a bench-clearing scrum resulting from Brian Cook's flagrant two foul when he pushed Przybilla as he went up for a layup. The skirmish led in Cook's ejection from the game -- Davis, Przybilla and Batum also picked up technical fouls.
Roy's long jumper put the Blazers up 22-7 during the first quarter. They built a 30-15 lead heading into the second stanza.
The offense kept running on all cylinders as the Blazers found themselves with a 22-point lead -- their largest of the game -- when Mills hit a three- pointer. They took a 59-37 lead into halftime.
The Clippers made it a 71-64 contest with a minute left in the third on a Gomes reverse lay up. The shot capped off a 12-4 spurt that started with 4:26 left in the quarter after Griffin made a jump shot. Cook's flagrant came moments after Gomes' shot.

The Blazers opened a three game homestand after going 0-4 on an Eastern road trip...Batum recorded a career-high 14 boards...Camby received a flagrant foul on a hard hit on Griffin with 7:02 left to play in the game...The Clippers missed 17 free throw attempts (26-of-43).
