Pacers and Raptors tangle in Indy
Dec 6, 2010 - 3:40 PM (Sports Network) - The Indiana Pacers return to Conseco Fieldhouse tonight to host the Toronto Raptors. The Pacers just finished a western road trip at 2-2 on Friday when Channing Frye pumped in 29 points and Jason Richardson added 21 to pace Phoenix in a 105-97 win over Indiana.
Brandon Rush scored a season-best 21 for the Pacers, who lost in Phoenix for the 10th time in the last 12 chances. Josh McRoberts had a season-high 16 points, but he had eight of Indiana's season-high 25 turnovers. Those miscues by the Pacers led to 26 Phoenix points.
"We definitely shot ourselves in the foot with all the turnovers," Rush said. "We had 25 turnovers and we broke down at the end of the game and they made some key plays. They kind of went on a run, they started making threes. Channing started to catch fire and we still turned the ball over."
Danny Granger, who came into the game with a team-leading 22.2 points per contest, was held to eight on 2-for-13 from the field.
"We're not a happy group right now, nor should we be," Indiana coach Jim O'Brien told the team's website. "We had a chance to make this a very good road trip and we didn't do it."
The Raptors, meanwhile, were cooled off a bit on Sunday when Amare Stoudemire led all scorers with 31 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, as the New York Knicks defeated Toronto, 116-99, at the Air Canada Centre.
Jerryd Bayless scored 23 points off the bench to lead the Raptors, who had won six of eight coming into the contest. Amir Johnson went for 22 points and career-high 16 rebounds in defeat.
"We had a difficult time guarding their guys," Raptors head coach Jay Triano said. "It's a tough job. You have to get into help on Stoudemire rolling and you also have to make sure you close out on the three-point shooters. We didn't do a very good job of running them off the three-point line."
Toronto, which is just 2-7 on the road this season, has lost four straight at Conseco Fieldhouse.
