Love, Timberwolves visit streaking Knicks at MSG

Dec 6, 2010 - 3:40 PM (Sports Network) - The streaking New York Knicks return home to Madison Square Garden in search of their fifth consecutive win tonight when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Amare Stoudemire led all scorers with 31 points and grabbed 16 rebounds on Sunday, as the Knicks defeated the Toronto Raptors, 116-99, at the Air Canada Centre.

Wilson Chandler netted 21 points and Raymond Felton contributed 18 points and eight assists for the Knicks, who have won seven straight on the road for the first time since December 27, 1994 - January 22, 1995. New York has won nine of its last 10 games overall and is an impressive 9-4 as the visitor on the year. Landry Fields posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.

The Knicks will now try to improve a more pedestrian 3-5 mark at the World's Most Famous Arena as they embark on a stretch in which they will play seven of their next nine at home.

The Wolves, meanwhile, snapped a six-game skid on Saturday by blowing out Cleveland, 129-95, in the Twin Cities. Kevin Love scored 20 of his 28 points in the first half in that one as Minnesota built a large lead on the way to the easy win.

Love, who leads the NBA with 15 double-doubles, also grabbed 19 rebounds and rookie Wesley Johnson scored a career-high 20 points for the Timberwolves, who won the first time since November 17.

Minnesota set a franchise record with 18 three-pointers in the game, including five from Love, and led by as many as 40 points. Six players scored in double- digits.

"Everybody played. Everybody contributed," said Love, who was a perfect 5- for-5 from beyond the arc.

Forward Michael Beasley, the Wolves' leader scorer at 21.6 ppg, missed the Cleveland win with a sprained ankle and is questionable for tonight.

Minnesota has won two straight over the Knicks, including a 112-203 win at Target Center back on Nov. 12 in which Love recorded 31 points and grabbed a franchise-record 31 rebounds, the NBA's first 30-30 game in 28 years.
