Lakers entertain Wizards at Staples Center

Dec 7, 2010 - 3:41 PM (Sports Network) - Now that their season-high losing streak is history, the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers can focus on keeping the Washington Wizards winless on the road when the two teams clash tonight.

Los Angeles ended a four-game losing streak with Friday's 113-80 victory over visiting Sacramento at Staples Center thanks to a game-best 22 points from superstar Kobe Bryant. Lamar Odom and Paul Gasol both finished with 16 points for the Lakers, who shot 56.6 percent from the floor and got 14 points off the bench from Shannon Brown.

"We had a good defensive game going for us and everything fell into place," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "With 68 points in the paint we had good penetration tonight."

Steve Blake had 11 points in the win. After Tuesday's game in Hollywood, the Lakers, who are 9-2 at home, will begin a seven-game road trip against the Clippers, Bulls, Nets, Wizards, Pacers, Sixers and Raptors.

Los Angeles owns a 5-4 ledger as the visitor.

Washington will resume a three-game road trip this evening and is 0-10 away from the Verizon Center this season.

The Wizards suffered their fifth loss in six tries with Sunday's 125-108 loss at Phoenix, as Andray Blatche led the way with 24 points and Nick Young scored 20 in defeat. Gilbert Arenas had 14 points and rookie John Wall added 12 points and 12 assists for Washington, which fell to 0-10 on the season.

"We just came out sluggish in the second half," Arenas said. "From there we were going up hill. These are one of those teams you can't let the lead get away from you."

Washington will also visit Sacramento on its trek. Blatche is averaging 21.5 points and 6.8 rebounds in his last four games, while Arenas has averaged 29.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 12 games versus the Lakers.

Los Angeles won both meetings with Washington a year ago and is unbeaten in the previous seven matchups between the teams. The Wizards have dropped three in a row as the guest in this series.
