Stoudemire, Knicks entertain Raptors at MSG

Dec 8, 2010 - 4:06 PM (Sports Network) - The New York Knicks hope to stay on the right path when they welcome the Atlantic Division-foe Toronto Raptors to Madison Square Garden Wednesday night.

New York has won five straight and 10 of its last 11 games, including Monday's 121-114 victory over Minnesota in the Big Apple. Amare Stoudemire scored 34 points and pulled down five rebounds, Wilson Chandler added 21 points and five assists and Raymond Felton ended with 18 points and 11 assists.

"It takes a team effort to really step up, and that's what we've done so far," Stoudemire said.

The Knicks are 4-5 as the host this season. Stoudemire has scored 30 or more points in five straight games. He needs back-to-back 30-point games to match the team record of seven straight 30-point efforts set by Willie Naulls from Feb. 22 - Mar. 4, 1962.

Toronto will close out a quick two-game road trip tonight and suffered its second straight loss with Monday's 124-100 setback in Indiana.

Jose Calderon scored 21 points and Amir Johnson added 15 and nine rebounds for the Raptors, who have dropped four of six games and fell to 2-8 away from Air Canada Centre this season.

Andrea Bargnani finished with 12 points in a losing effort. The Raptors had trouble defending the perimeter, as Indiana hit 13-of-26 shots from beyond the arc.

"The threes killed us," said Toronto head coach Jay Triano. "All of our cover was to take away the three-point shot. Our guys got caught in screens. You can't let this team shoot threes and we didn't do it."

Raptors forward Peja Stojakovic is questionable for Wednesday's game with a swollen left knee.

New York has won the first two meetings with Toronto this season after losing all four matchups a season ago. The Raptors are unbeaten in their last three trips to Madison Square Garden.
